    Contrary to the rumours milling round Obokun State Constituency on the candidate who will contest for the State Assembly under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Lawmaker representing Obokun/ Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke Federal Constituency, has categorically stated that he has not endorsed any aspirant.

    Hon Wole Oke in a release he personally signed said “l have not appointed anybody as my candidate, all the aspirants are mine. They are all my good and worthy constituents, I don’t despise anyone of them. I love them all.”

    Hon. Oke berated those behind such wicked rumours and described them as mischief makers.
    Why should l have endorsed one out of our qualified aspirants? All l am after is to provide level play field for all the aspirants, who ever wins is welcome.


    Oke said this clarification becomes necessary in order to check our common foes in their clandestine attempts to disrupt the peace we are enjoying in our Constituency.
    I will however advise all the aspirants to work hard in their respective places and warm themselves to the hearts of the delegates.


    We should collectively cement every crack in our wards and Local Governments in oder to ensure victory for our great party.
    The Lawmaker also enjoins supporters of the aspirants to be peaceful, courteous and civil in their advocacies for victory of their candidates.


    He assured the constituents that equal recognition would be given to all the aspirants to enable them participate in the Primary Election to choose the PDP candidate at the 2023 general election.


    “I have advised the party Leadership to allow all the aspirants to contest and go for the primary election, nobody would be denied his franchise in the process of choosing the candidatship for our Constituency at the State Assembly. All the aspirants in Ibokun, Imesi-Ile and Ilare are my good friends, I can’t discourage anyone from trying his/her luck.”, Hon Oke said.

    Following the adoption and endorsement of the Lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke by the Leaders of the Constituency to return to the National Assembly, the Honourable has expressed his deep appreciation to the PDP leaders in Obokun/Oriade for the unanimous endorsement.


    Hon Oke in a release he personally signed assured the leaders and the entire people of the Constituency that he would not let the people down in the confidence they reposed in him.
    He enthused that he understood the enormous challenges facing the Constituency and he has determined not to relent in his efforts in the provision of employment opportunities for the youths.


    According to him, ” I appreciate the adoption of my candidature by my leaders. I promise not to let them down. I understand the challenges big in the Constituency, especially in the areas of youths employment and empowerments, security and infrastructural development. Artisans, market women and farmers in the Constituency would be given more priorities.”


    It would be recalled that the Honourable was given the endorsement to return to the House of Representatives under the umbrella of the PDP by the Leaders in a meeting held at Chief Federal House in Ijebu-Jesa on Saturday.

    OSPOLY ASUP CALLS OFF STRIKE
    Following the intervention of the Governing Council of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Abiodun Ismail Saka-Layonu (SAN), the Academic Staff Union (ASUP) of the Osun State Polytechnic Iree has called off its strike action which it commenced on Monday 14th March, 2022.


    The Council Chairman, Dr. Saka-Layonu expressed his displeasure over the commencement of the strike, which the leadership of the Union declared last Monday without any discussion with the Council.


    A release by the Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Busari Salawu Esq stated that, “Dr. Saka-Layonu frowned at such an industrial action and urged members of ASUP and other labour unions in the institution to always embrace dialogue and consultation before embarking on such actions subsequently.”
    He assured the staffers that welfare and progress of workers would be given priorities by the Council. He stated that his Council would not deprive the workers their rights as they discharge their duties, in line with the policy trust of the Governor Gboyega Oyetola-led administration in the State. He urged them to eschew conflicts and embrace peaceful discussion with the Governing Council and Management of the Institution.


    As a result of the Council’s intervention, the one week strike action has been called off. Students of the Institution have been directed by the Management of the Polytechnic to resume, on Monday, 21st of March as full academic activities would commence in all programmes of the Institution.

    As the contest for the gubernatorial candidature of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thickens in Osun State, the Lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke has disclosed that all PDP Federal Lawmakers in the 4th-9th Assemblies would meet in Osogbo soon to review the way forward for the party.


    Hon Wole Oke while speaking to some Journalists in Osogbo on Friday said the former and present PDP lawmakers at the National Assembly considered it very imperative to intervene, discuss and review the situation of things within the party, especially on the gubernatorial candidate for the party in the Osun July election.


    Those expected at the meeting include the distinguished: Honourables Bamidele Salam, Bimbo Ajilesoro, John Fasogbon, Gbenga Onigbogi, Debo Ayinde and all old and present Lawmakers of PDP in South West.
    Hon Oke declared that “we consider it imperative to come together and do a critical review of the situation of things in the party, especially on the gubernatorial election slated for July this year. We can’t open our eyes and be watching the situation going on like this within the party. We must intervene for peace to reign in the party, so that we can record victory without any rancour in the party”, he explained.


    Hon Oke disclosed that the Honourables would converge in Osogbo soon for the meeting and chart a path of peaceful success for the party.

    The remains of the former Chairman, Odu’a Investment Company, Mr Hezekiah Duro Oyekanle who passed away on 28th January, 2022 will be buried tomorrow.

    Mr Oyekanle popularly known as Uncle Duro was the 5th Chairman, Odu’a Group of Companies between 1981-1983.
    A University of Ibadan graduate of Agric-Econmics was born in Ilare-Ijesa, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State about 76 years ago.

    He was a committed and illustrious citizen of Ilare who used his talents and economic might to play tangible roles in the development of the town.
    While lamenting the passage of the former president of Ilare Development Association (IDA), the Owalare of Ilare Oba Adejoro Otebolaku in a release signed by the Spokesperson of the Owalare- in- Council, Oloye Tope Abiola said, Uncle Duro Oyekanle’s contributions to the socio-educational and cultural development of the town can not be forgotten in an hurry.


    The monarch declared that his tenure as the President of the Ilare Development Association witnessed tremendous development.


    According to the Oba ” Uncle Duro was a man of peace, an amiable personality, lively and animated. He used his talents to promote the cultural values of the Ilare Community. His roles in the establishment of Ilare Community High Sçhool in 1976 and other areas of development in the town will take an indelible space in the history of the town. I commiserate with the Olofa dynasty in Ilare, the IDA and entire Ilare Community”, Owalare said.

    Meanwhile, a release signed by the family indicates that his remains would be buried tomorrow in his compound, Duro Oyekanle Avenue after a funeral service at the Methodist Church, Ilare by 10:00 am. The funeral Programme would be preceded by a Christian Wake Keep today in his residence by 5:00pm.
    He is survived by his wife, children and sister.

    The Ceremony, which will witness the Grand Installation of
    of Dr Dada as the ‘Iya Egbe Odo’ would be performed by the Rt. Rev’d (Dr) Iwabiolorun I.Oluyamo, Bishop, Diocese of Ijesa North by 10.am prompt.

    The event, which would witness Creme de la Creme in attendance,
    is coming up barely three weeks after another illustrious son of
    Ere-Ijesa, Bar. Olaniyi Adeleke Agbola(SAN) was installed as the Chancellor Diocese of
    Ijesa North of Nigeria(Anglican Communion), St.Stephen Ere Ijesa.

    Speaking on the ceremony, Bar Dada said that the event would be a three-in-one thing.

    “The ceremony is coinciding with the one year anniversary of my late father, Chief Popoola Atanda Lawanson, the late Aro of Ere-Ijesa.

    “Also, we are using the Ceremony to mark the Thanks Giving Service of
    my mother, Chief (Mrs) Elizabeth Lawanson, who is celebrating her 83rd Birthday.

    There is urgent need for PDP members, admirers and symphatisers in Osun State to stop making vitriolic comments about the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.”

    The Federal Legislator, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke, representating Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency gave this priceless advice on Friday in a Press Statement, just as he counselled members of the party to remain calm, focused and prayerful to record unfettered victory in the state gubernatorial election slated for July this year.


    The Lawmaker, gave the golden advice against the background of rancid remarks and virulent attacks against the person and personality of Governor Makinde, whom he referred to as an astute and pragmatic party leader.


    “Recently, l have observed flood of criticism towards the door Post of Governor Makinde over his action or inaction on the evolving PDP matters in Osun State, which is uncalled for,
    unwarranted, misplaced and misdirected.


    “I cannot still wrap my head around how Governor Makinde has in anyway constituted an impediment in anyway in the wheel of progress of our great party and indeed Osun state ,” the legislator said,
    Hon Oke who appraised the seeming crisis within the party clarified that such issues often arise as a build up towards election, particularly the all important Governorship election.


    To him all the real and perceived problems within PDP in the state are not beyond amicable resolution and I commend our elders and leaders for their meaningful mediation which is yielding result.


    ” I consider our problem or do I say matter as local and domestic which can and will be resolved domestically.
    ” Therefore, let us be civil, couth and display maturity in the use of words,” he stated.


    He enthused that “beyond politics, let us see and embrace ourselves as brothers and sisters in dealing with one another in order to collectively build a virile PDP, capable of winning all the elections resoundingly.


    We need to be diplomatic, strategic, calm, calculative, methodical and decent in our approach to the conduct of free and fair primaries”
    Hon Oke stressed that Governor Makinde did not declare his support for anyone of the PDP aspirants in Osun as been alleged by a group of the party members in the State, he is a credible leader whose concern is basically for the victory of the party in all the elections.


    He urged the party members to be calculative, strategic, logical and peaceful, assuring that issues within the party would soon be resolved amicably.

    As the people of Osun State are warming up for the gubernatorial election slated for July this year, the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Osogbo, Most Rev. John Akin Oyejola, has charged the people the state against selling of their Permanent Voters’ Card.

    The Bishop made the charge on Sunday, while making his post communion comments during the 2022 Oke-Maria pilgrimage, at Otan-Ayegbaju, Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the State.
    He declared that anybody caught selling PVC by the security agents should be arrested and made to face the consequences of engaging in such heinieous act.

    The cleric, who also admonished eligible voters that have not registered for PVC to ensure they get their cards at a location that can easily be accessed on election day, said voting is a civic responsibility that must be done by all citizens of Nigeria.
    “I enjoin you all to participate actively in the coming election and vote wisely for any candidate of your choice, it is a civic responsibility that you must carry out.
    I implore you not to sell your voter’s card. It is a sin, anybody caught in such act must be ready to face the consequences”, he said.

    Bishop Oyejola, while praying for a hitch-free governorship poll, advised youth not to allow anyone to use them to forment trouble during the exercise.

    He said, “Osun governorship election is near. Those of you who have not got your PVC, go and get it now. Get your voters’ card. That is your power to decide who leads you.

    “Get your voters’ card and don’t sell it. If you sell it, you commit sin. It is not for sale. If you cant vote, keep it. Don’t sell. It is a sin. If you are caught by police, I will support whatever punishment given to you.

    “If you have not registered, go and do so and register where you can vote. If you live in Osogbo and you register in Ikirun, you may not be able to vote, because there may not be free movement.

    “Register where you can walk to and vote. It is very important and vote right. May God heal our land. We have enough in this country to share, but for greed”, he said.

    He enjoined youths not to allow politicians to use them to forment troubles during the election.

    “Youth don’t be used to truncate the election. Even if you don’t have all you need today, trust in God. Do the right thing”, he advised.

    The Bishop also implored the congregation to pay attention to their health

    Osun State Deputy Governor, Mr. Benedict Alabi and his wife, as well as ex- Chief Executive Officer of National Business and Technical Examination Board, Prof Olu Aina, traditional rulers, priests, religious and many lay faithful were part of this year’s pilgrimage that was last held in 2020 due to the advent of coronavirus.
