  • Ado EKiti Lions Club in conjunction with De Sapphires Club through the Asiwaju of Ilare-Ijesa kingdom, Obokun East Local Council Development Area,Osun State will tomorrow, Saturday, 19th May, 2022 present Cocoa Seedlings, Palm Oil Seedlings, hoes and cutlasses to young farmers and youths in Ilare-Ijesa as part of the empowerment programmes of the Club.


    According to a statement signed by the Asiwaju of Ilare, Engr. Oyedeji Olajubu, the programme will come up at the Owalare’s Palace by 10:00am.
    The Asiwaju enjoined youths in the entire Ilare Community to be at the venue as early as possible in the morning to register their names for collection of the seedlings and farm implements.


    He stressed that the empowerment is not politically motivated, but as a a programme to encourage the youths in Agriculture, food production, self sustainance and employment generation.


    Expected at the programme are: His Royal Majesty, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku JP, Olori Elu, Eka-Osun, the Owalare of Ilare, the Owalare- in- Council and Community Leaders.

  • The Govening Council of Osun State Polytechnic Iree has disclosed that the Combined 7th Convocation of the Institution wouldl come up on Thursday 26th May, 2022.

    A statement released by the Registrar of the Institution, Mr Busari Salawu( Esq) stated that those who graduated in 2016/2017(NCE),2017/2018, 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/21 Academic Sessions of the Institution are the graduands.


    The Registrar also revealed that the Convocation Programme would commence with a World Press Conference that would be held at the NUJ Press Center, Iwo Road, Osogbo on Tuesday 24th May by 11:00am, while the Convocation Lecture would hold the following day, Wednesday 25th May.


    The Convocation Lecture entitled ” Green Entrepreneurial Intention and Business Sustainability in Post COVID-19 Pandemic Era: Issues and Challenges would be be delivered by a Professor of Human Resources in Osun State University Osogbo, Professor Dayo Idowu Akintayo at the Institution’s ETF Auditorium by 10:00am.


    The Grand Finale of the programme, according to the release, would be graced by the Visitor to the Instituition, His Excellency Alh. Dr. Isoaka Gboyega Oyetola, the Governor of Osun State. It would come up on Thursday 26th May by 10:00 am at the Institution’s Pavilion. Various prizes wouldl be given to outstanding graduands in the graduation years.

    National Diploma and Higher National Diploma and National Certificate in Education would also be awarded to the graduands at the epoch making ceremony, while distinguished personalities would also be conferred Fellowship awards of the Polytechnic.

  • Authorities of Osun State Polytechnic Iree have declared that the date of the proposed Convocation of the Institution is not yet fixed by the Institution.


    The management in a statement signed by Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Busari Salawu ESQ said “no specific date has been fixed for the convocation ceremony because we are waiting for the approval of the Visitor to the Institution, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.


    “The Institution can not fix a date without consulting the Governor’s Office for a possible date for His Excellency to attend the programme.”
    The Registrar stressed that “a convocation is an epoch making academic festival which needs the approval of the proprietor of the Institution for it to be celebrated.”


    The Registrar enthused that the rumoured convocation ceremony alleged to have been planned and held today Thursday 5th May, 2022 was an unfounded .


    While appreciating the efforts of the Alhaji Oyetola’s led administration in transforming the educational status of the state, the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Woye Olaniran assured the Governor of the unflinching supports of the entire Polytechnic Community for the Governor to succeed in all his endeavours

    The Rector, Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr. Woye Olaniran has felicitated Muslims in the Polytechnic Community on the celebration of the ID EL FITRI which marks the end of the 30 days of fasting and prayers for the 2022 Ramadan.


    Dr. Olaniran in a release signed by the Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocol of the Institution, Mr. Adebayo Fadeji , said the 30 days of fervent prayers was a period of dedication and spiritual rejuvenation which the Muslims have supplicated for the betterment of the Polytechnic, Osun State and Nigeria at large.


    He urged them to maintain and sustain the discipline, moral uprightness and spiritual devotions which they embraced during the Ramadan.


    Dr. Olaniran also charged them not to forget the Polytechnic community and Osun State in their prayers today, especially for the peaceful and favourable conduct of the July 16 Governorship Election in the State.

    As the world celebrates the Holy Week and Passion festival of the suffering,crucifixion , and resurrection of Christ, the Rector of the Osun State Polytechnic Iree, Dr. Woye Olaniran, has charged the entire Polytechnic Community to embrace love and unity.
    The Rector admonished them to continue their unalloyed prayers for the Government and people of Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
    Dr. Olaniran, a Christian cleric, said the period is a sacred season used for penance, reconciliation, prayers and absolute dedication to God.
    In doing these, he charged the people to embrace peace, love and unity.
    Dr. Olaniran also urged the management, staff and students of the institution to use the Easter period to offer special prayers for the Government and people of the State, especially in the forthcoming election for Governor Oyetola’s wish to continue his good deeds in the state to further enhance poverty alleviation, improved educational delivery , constant payment of salaries and emoluments and peaceful co-existence of inhabitants of the state.
    He prayed for God’s protection over the members of the Governing Council, Management, staff and Students of the Institution and entire people of the state.

  • To guarantee adequate security of the society, it is the responsibility of all citizens to partner security agencies in the fight against crimes and criminalities.

    The Vice Chairman of Police And Personalities Forum (PAPEF), Esa Oke Division, the Aro of Ilare, Engineer Olugbenga Olajubu stated this on Sunday at an occasion in Esa-Oke, where Dr. Busayo Oluwole Oke, the Lawmaker representing Obokun Oriade Federal Constituecy of Osun State in the National Assembly donated seven Sienna Buses patrol vehicles, motorcycles and communication gadgets to the Nigeria Police, Department of State Service (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Western Network Security Service (Amotekun), Vigilante Group of Nigeria and the Hunters Group of Nigeria. Engr.

    Olajubu who extolled the concern of the Lawmaker on security of lives and property in the constituency said “with the intervention of Honourable Wole Oke, the problem of transportation confronting the security operatives in the area would be solved”.


    He urged the police and other security officials to be alive in their duties, saying “to whom much is given, much is expected”

    In his address, the donor, Dr Busayo Oluwole Oke hinged the gesture on requests from PAPEF to help support and complement the efforts of the security agencies in Ijesa North Federal Constituecy to stem the tide of criminal activities in the area.

    While appealing to other notable sons and daughters of Ijesa North to take a cue from his humble gesture, Dr Oke said the donations have no political underpinnings, because security is everybody’s business. He enjoined the security agents to ensure that the vehicles and motorcycles are used for the purpose they are meant for. He however promised that the second phase of the donations would be done in due course.


    He also disclosed that he would not relent efforts in youths and women empowerments in the constituency.
    He also enthused that artisans and tailors in the constituency would be giving series of ultra modern equipment to improve their skills in their vocations shortly after Easter.

    The event was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life, including royal fathers from Ijesa North, clerics, Heads Of Security Agencies, political stalwarts, associates, friends, acquaintances and party faithful.

    Responding on behalf of the recipients, Supretendeint Of Police, SP Babalola Kazeem appreciated the donor just as he promised that the vehicles would be put to good use to secure lives and property of residents in the area.

    Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree has reacted to a story published by on an online media on the alleged missing of an ex-student of the institution, Miss Owolabi Abidemi, who was declared missing by her friends.


    The Institution in a release signed by Registrar of the Institution, Busari Salawu Esq said “Our attention has been drawn to an online publication about a missing student of our Institution, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

    “We wish to state that the story captioned, “Undergraduate Osun Poly Student Declare (sic) Missing” was not properly investigated.

    “In clear terms, we hereby state that the allegedly missing person, Owolabi Abidemi, was an ex-student of the institution. Going by her matriculation number, 19/DACN/4226, the lady should be on her Industrial Attachment by now under the covers of her parents as she graduated during the 2020/2021 Academic Session of the Institution.

    “Besides, the Institution did not have any formal report of any missing student of the School either from any parents or guardian, or security operatives in the State.

    “However should the publication be true, we sympathise with the concerned parents and pray that God will manifest Himself in her recovery or rescue”, the statement read.

  • Igigun-Ilare Community Commends Hon. Wole Oke for transformation of the Community

    The people of Igigun community in Ilare, Ward 10, Obokun Local Government area of Osun State have expressed their unreserved appreciation to the Lawmaker representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke for provision of some basic amenities for them.

    Speaking with the Media, the Monarch of the community, Oba Kehinde Adepoju Aboyede and the Spokesperson of the Community, Mr. Ojo Folorunso said the Honourable has really brought succour into the lives of inhabitants of the community.

    According to them, “we have been suffering for potable water in our community here for a long time, we made this our humble request to Hon. Oluwole Oke and within a week our request was promptly granted. He has graciously commissioned a Bore Hole to be sunk to serve the entire community”, the monarch said.


    Also buttressing the monarch, the community leader declared that ” before now, we used to trek about three Kilometers before we could fetch water at Karaole Stream, it was a bad experience. No potable water in the village, but now Hon. Oke has alleviated the problem. One who gives water, gives life. We pray that God will do everything good in his life.

    “The Honourable did not only give us water, he has also erected solar lights in the village, we also pray that as he has given us light, darkness will never enter his life.”

    They however pledged the support of the people to the Honourable, assuring him of their solid support for him in the 2023 election in order to continue his welfarist programs for the people of the Obokun/Oriade constituency.
    While responding, Hon. Oke said that “it is the responsibility of elected political functionaries to keep to their electioneering campaigns promise to improve the welfare of the people with the provision of basic amenities that can alleviate the sufferings of the people.” He assured the constituents that he would do better and consolidate the good works he had started in the constituency if he could be elected again to represent the people at the National Assembly.

    He explained that he has generated employment opportunities for many young graduates in the constituency, while youths and women empowerments are ongoing, adding that some communities have also benefitted immensly in the areas of Electrification, Bore Holes, Building and Renovations of Science Laboratories among many others.
