  • Ejigbo local government is one of the oldest local government of Osun state. It consists of the major towns like Ejigbo itself, Ifeodan, Masifa, Isundunrin and some others. If not the largest but one of the largest local government in the state.
Ejigbo is a point of reference when it comes to politics with different popular politician’s that occupied the major political office on the corridor of Osun power. It is a pity that all these achievement were benefitted only by politicians from Ejigbo central “Ejigbo indigenes”. This is because Ejigbo is central is selfish and greedy as they don’t believe in equity and fairness. Ejigbo always take the Advan of the other parts called SUBURBS.

It’s good to reiterate that Ifeodan, the second largest town in Ejigbo is an important catalyst in Ejigbo political atmosphere. They have been voted PDP concurrently since democracy. Ifeodan is PDP home and this is the factor that motivated Senator Iyiola Omisore I. 2014 to made a thank you visit to the town even after he lost election. Ejigbo central on the other hand has always been the supporter and a strong home of the defunct APC since 1999. It is headquarters of APC for 6 consecutive terms. Prince Plague Oyinlola did not for once win Ejigbo township throughout his tenure .

In the same vein, Ife-Odan is the only community where People Democratic Party won in 2018 through out the length and breath of Ejigbo local government in every elections. This is because we are solid PDP rock since inception. There is an attachment to this file shows the breakdown of gubernatorial election figures to proof my claim.

Now, there’s one thing you might have noticed I don’t complain about: politicians. Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don’t fall out of the sky. They don’t pass through a membrane from another reality. But they are within us.

With all these sacrifices by the people of Ifeodan, Why will Ejigbo alone produced the Commissioner, The Honourable and Party Chairman under the administration of Gov. Ademola Adeleke forgetting other parts of the Local Government.

In politics we face the choice between warmongering, nation-state loving, big-business agents on one hand; and risk-blind, top-down, epistemic arrogant big servants of large employers on the other. But we have a choice.

It’s not about making mouth, Ife-Odan people are loyal and patriotic to PDP more than Ejigbo as a town itself dating back from the tenure of Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola. It must be noted that All Progressive Congress do come second in every election, Presidential, Governorship, Federal House of Representatives, State Assembly and so many others. But when the time comes for them to enjoy the dividends of their Labour, Ejigbo people comes up to showcase the power of self-involvement, self-preoccupation, self-regard, neglecting the grassroots where PDP do win elections without any stress.

All of us are neck deep in politics everyday of our lives. Every organization on earth that involves human beings has its politics. Politics does not have to be a bad thing. Actually politics can be a good thing when we bring people to the table to sit down, work together, compromise and get things done for the common good.

If this political of the tomfooleries continue, we shall see Political aspirants that make too much of the people before election, and, if successful, too much of themselves after it.

Ejigbo and PDP use the Ife-Odan and other towns in the Local Government when they want to rise, as we treat a spirited horse when we want to mount him;–for a time we pat the animal upon the neck, and speak him softly; but once in the saddle, then come the whip and spur.

I departs by saying, Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

  • Story by; Temilade Odedele

The residents, motorists of Ife-Odan in Ejigbo local government area of Osun State have lamented over the poor state and condition of the major roads in the community. These roads are the important roads link to major towns like Oyo, Iwo, Ogbomosho, Iwo Ate- Ajaawa axis of Oyo state and some others link to various farm settlements. The two of the three constructed roads in the entire community by the former administrations of Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Late Governor Adebayo Alao Akala of Osun and Oyo respectively are absolutely bad right now. The roads are ; Iwo-Obamoro-Ikonifin-Ifeodan road by Governor Oyinlola and Ifeodan-Lagbedu road by Late Governor Alao Akala. These two major roads are dilapidated and seriously bad and have turned to the major breeding places for accidents in Ife-Odan community.

The residents, speaking with the correspondent Temilade Odedele, expressed their dissatisfaction and great concerns over the conditions of the roads in the town which have caused a major setback to the development of the town. That no accessible roads to various farms has caused serious havoc to the farmers in the areas because the major and buoyant occupation in the land is farming.

It must be noted that Ife-Odan, being the major food basket of Osun state and it’s environs like Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomosho, Iwo, Ejigbo and even far places like Ijebu-Ode and many others should be flooded with tarred, good, tangible and accessible roads, one of the residents declared.

A reputable Chief in the community, Chief Oladepo Ajao, The Abogunde of Ife-Odan said “lack of a motorable roads, especially during the rainy season, has caused a lot of hardships to the residents” baring his minds to Osun State government , complaining bitterly that the bad roads are negatively affecting their productivities and efficiencies as a town and livelihood in different ways. Ifeodan as the largest producer of yams, maize, palm oils and some other crops has the largest market for the aforementioned crops in the whole of Osun and Oyo states.

This market “Oba ADEYEMI Market” located at Oke-Oyinbo along Ifeodan-Ogbomosho road needs to be considered by OSUN state government because the road links to the market is absolutely bad and condemned and this has called for serious concerns among the indigenes of the town. It’s now difficult to transport farm produces from the farm to the market as farmers face multiple problems.

Most of the residents who spoke with Temilade expressed disappointment from the previous administration over abandonment of the town in terms of infrastructure, employment, socio-cultural development, health, education and many others that aides better well being.

They call on Osun state government, the people’s Governor, Governor Ademola Adeleke, well wishers, the successful sons and daughters to come to their aid and rescue the town from this transportation mess and road brouhaha.

“The recent efforts to fix parts of the roads were merely an afterthought, there is need for an holistic approach to safe the citizens of the community when there is heavy downpour harrowing experience of traffic congestion due to flooding occasioned by bad spots,” Ogunrinde Dare, a resident said.

The state of the roads has become a serious challenge for motorists, motorcyclists and residents. Besides the refuse heaps and its nauseating stench that disturbs the town, Ife-Odan residents are also groaning about the dilapidated state of major roads, which according to many respondents, have been causing untold traffic hardship in transporting agricultural produce which is endangering the lives of the residents.

Anytime it rains, the road gets flooded, making it difficult for cars, buses and motorcycles to ply, making it impossible to transport farm produce to the market during the festive period, it would be recorded that Ife-Odan is one of the town blessed with productive farmers who work productively and enhance the growth of food production in Osun State, ” A resident added.
