Since the coming on board of the Senator Ademola Adeleke-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in Osun State, in spite of the usual bickering that characterizes politics, particularly among the ruling and opposition parties, in Nigeria, there has been relative peace of mind in the state.

While many have argued that the governor had a water-tight plan of his, close to his chest before coming for the governorship position, there is no doubt that Governor Adeleke has surrounded himself with the very best of brains Osun State can boast of, in the onerous task of putting the state on the pedestal of verifiable development. One of such brains is Honourable Sunday Bisi.
It is arguable that the state chairman of the PDP, Honourabe Sunday Bisi, a politician of note, who cut his teeth in political tutelage under the former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as the Special Adviser on Environment is undoubtedly an icon in the development in the PDP-led government in the State of the Living Spring.

Honourable Bisi is regarded by many as a political wizard in Ijesaland; he is endowed with political skills he usually deploys for use when it comes to uniting members of his political party. He is frank and unbiased, courteous, humane and civil.

Recall that when he returned as the chairman of the party at its congress held at the Osogbo township stadium, the crux of his speech was on the ways to reunite the party and make it more virile than ever which he prompt accomplished and created a benevolence atmosphere in the party to enable the governor to administer the State.
“When you have a united party, then, the governor will be able to concentrate; and there won’t be distractions. I will ensure that; and I will bring everybody into the party, so that we will be able to move the state forward.
“We know those that are behind our woes; those that are in court against this congress. I will only appeal to them to sheathe their swords and come back to join us to move Osun State forward. Those that went to court are not part of the success story of today.

“We had governorship, presidential and state Houses of Assembly elections; they did not participate. They are being used to draw us back. I appeal to them to join hands with us.

“I know what it takes to lead a party into government. I have done it before and I will do it again, by the grace of God. I am going to unite the party more; everybody will be on the same page under my leadership.
“People are happy in Osun State with what our governor is doing to the state. In less than four months, they have seen changes; salaries and arrears have been paid. And workers have been promoted.

    Infrastructure development is ongoing.
“We had Workers’ Day here a few days ago. I have been in Osun for several years. I have not seen this kind of turnout before, because they trooped out en masse,” he had said then.

His performance in office since then has lent credence to this statement and had made him fulfilled in administration of the party and recommendations of political nominees for various offices at the State and local government levels.

Following his trajectory since his sojourn in the PDP, many analysts have described the Osun PDP helmsman as a very dogged strategist when faced with achieving set objectives.

Besides, he is very loyal and honest to any cause he believes in as well as have the quality of being committed to service to humanity.
Apart from this, Bisi is held in many quarters as an incorruptible politician; he is not influenced by anything and he cannot be bought by whoever he thinks would not do the bidding of the masses of Osun State; he is always bothered by what has not been done to improve the lives of individuals. He is a thorough Ijesa man who shares the same spirit with the Ibokun born-Prince, Diran Odeyemi and the acolyte of Ijesa North politician, Right Honourable Oluwole Oke, service to humanity and community development are his watchwords.
Those who are close to the PDP helmsman have also said that he is highly endowed with uncommon intelligence to resolve issues that could metamorphose into crisis or which could destabilise the state.

It is common knowledge now that during the stormy period in the PDP in Osun State, Honourable Bisi had remained resolute and stood by the state governor, just in his characteristic manner. This is why he had refused to succumb to intimidations, embarrassments, persecutions and legal threats.

Just like Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Chief of Staff to the Governor stands as the Brain Box of the State of the Living Spring, Sunday Bisi is the mastermind and principal strategist for the peaceful administration of the governor under the party, the PDP. He always ensures that the string of unity and love in the party is not broken.

It is noteworthy that the pivot of his magic wand is humility, obedience and respect for leadership and humanity.
As a visionary leader, Honourable Bisi runs the party leadership with the spirit of egalitarianism.

With the Ilesa-born political juggernaut, it is evident that the PDP will continue to thrive in Osun State with tremendous achievements under the Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke’s governance.

  • Students of Osun State Polytechnic Iree on Tuesday continued their First Semester Examination for 2022/2023 Session as directed by Osun State Government through the Chairman of the Institution’s Governing Council, Hon. Diran Ayanbeku.

A visit by News men to the campus of the institution on Tuesday revealed that, the students were seen writing their examination without any hitch.

Some staff of the institution who were Invigilators and Supervisors were seen conducting the examination in orderly manners in various examination halls.

The Governing Council through a statement issued by the Acting Registrar, Mr Abiodun Oloyede on Monday had directed staffers of the Polytechnic to ensure that members of staff return to their duty posts for their academic and administrative duties.

It would be recalled that staffers of the polytechnic, three weeks ago embarked on industrial strike protesting the suspension of the Polytechnic Rector, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo by the State Government for alleged financial improprieties and abuse of office which made the State Government to set up a Panel of Enquiry, currently investigating the allegations.
Some of the students who spoke with our correspondent appealed to the few aggrieved lecturers to settle their grievances with the government so that their industrial protest would not further affect their lives.

The students also appealed to the government to ensure that the investigation should be done speedily so that justice could prevail.
While speaking, the Acting Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede who expressed his happiness for the success of the examination commended the staffers for their selfless service, saying it was good of them to heed the directive of the government to conduct the examination.

  • Osun State Government has declared the no work, no pay rule on staffers of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree who refuse to resume to duty as from Monday, 14th August, 2023.
This was disclosed in a memo signed by the Acting Registrar of the Institution, Mr Abiodun Oloyede.

The memo stated that “sequel to the government directive that the Institution should re-open fully on Monday 14th August, 2023, the Chairman, Governing Council of the Institution, Hon Diran Ayanbeku has directed that all staff of the Institution should report unfailingly to commence the suspended Part-Time students First Semester Examination immediately.” As a result of this, the Chairman directed that Attendance Registers should be opened in the Personnel Unit of the Institution’s Registry for the staff to indicate their attendance daily.

The release warned that any staff who refuses to carry out his/her academic duties would be sanctioned accordingly.

It would be recalled that members of the academic Staff of the Institution have embarked on strike since 3 weeks ago, following the suspension of the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Tajudeen Odetayo as a result of alleged financial impropriety and abuse of office levied against him.

As a result of this, a Panel of Enquiry has been set up by the State Government to investigate the allegations after being queried with unsatisfied response by the Rector.

  • It’s an absolute fact that the political evolution in Osun since democracy in 1999 has evolved the two major parties PDP and the defunct APC.

CHIEF BISI AKANDE as the pioneer democratic governor of the state was a meritorious advantage to the popularity of the AD now defunct APC in one of the local government areas of the state “EJIGBO”. The reason for this is the fact that the speaker to the state house of assembly during this administration is an indigene of Ejigbo, PROFESSOR MOJEED ALABI .

No one can argue the fact that, this speakership opportunity to compensate the people of Ejigbo as a town gave birth to favourable political atmosphere APC enjoyed in EJIGBO until 2022 when the narrative changed in the course of IMOLE.

EJIGBO, as a local government has a total of eleven (11) wards, the hardworking, dedications and loyalty of the AD party members in each of these wards are absolute considerations for PROFESSOR MOJEED ALABI’S SPEAKERSHIP and since then, EJIGBO and other neighboring wards voted defunct APC till 2022.

“IT’S AN APC BREEDING GROUND; A STRONGHOLD INDEED.”

Unfortunately for AD then, when the administration started properly, there was uneven distribution of political benefits such as employment opportunities among others. This unfavorable political atmosphere made one of the eleven wards threw their loyalty to other party called PDP in 2023 .

Since 2023 OYINLOLA / ERELU’S ticket, IFEODAN has never stopped her loyalty to the PDP.

PDP won every single election in IFEODAN from 2003 to 2023.

” IFEODAN 20 YEARS MERITORIOUS SERVICE TO PDP.”

IFEODAN deserves an award of absolute dedication and loyalty.

One hundred percent loyalty and dedication towards PDP prompted MR. IYIOLA OMISORE, 2014 PDP gubernatorial candidate visitation to the town to say
“THANK YOU IFEODAN” even after he lost election.

In 2018, it was only in IFEODAN in the entire EJIGBO LOCAL GOVERNMENT where PDP defeated the Almighty APC and SDP with the following results.

    PDP 1193 Votes
    APC 1115 Votes
    SDP 558 Votes

With 78 votes difference to defeat the Almighty APC and 734 Votes to defeat Almighty SDP.

It must be noted that the votes scores by SDP in IFEODAN axis was a fragment of PDP.

With the then SA to the former governor OYETOLA on land and physical planning, in person of Hon. Aleem Bakare that hailed from IFEODAN, yet IFEODAN axis alone have 353 votes margin that the tribunal later used to declare the incumbent governor of OSUN state, Governor Adeleke as the validly winner of the most controversial inconclusive governorship election in Nigeria.

As a result of the best PDP has been receiving from the people of IFEODAN, they deserve the best in IFEODAN and also they deserve many appointments but it’s capital pathetic that the recent appointments by the state governor do not reflect in IFEODAN at all.

It’s obvious that our commitment and dedication to the PDP as a party are not recognised. Everything is centered and monopolized to EJIGBO township. “We felt betrayed by PDP”.

The incumbent house of assembly member is an indigene of Ejigbo town Mr. Jimmi Asagade as well as commissioner for land and physical planning Mr. George Alabi. Where is our own commitment and loyalty share? We deserve it.

Additionally, in 2022. IFEODAN which contains ward 7 and half of ward 8 came out with the following election results:
    WARD 7:
    PDP(1178), APC: (973)

    WARD 8:
    PDP(514), APC(506)

The following are unarguable facts and figures:

IFEODAN is the second largest community after EJIGBO in EJIGBO local government area.

2018 governorship election gave birth to 2022 victory for PDP in OSUN.

At the primary election of PDP in 2018, five votes were given to the
    ADELEKE DYNASTY from IFEODAN axis.

All the four DELEGATES from IFEODAN AXIS voted SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE in 2022 party primary election.

IFEODAN with one and half wards was the only place where PDP won 2018 gubernatorial election in EJIGBO local government area.

At the general election, it was only in IFEODAN where PDP defeated the Almighty APC and SDP in 2018.

It’s on this note IFEODAN is saying; we have been betrayed by EJIGBO PDP leadership, that serves as barricade that blocks our recognition by Mr. Governor, also preventing the party authority to notice our unending contributions, hardworking, dedication and commitment to the birth of this administration.

We seek the intervention of the party leaders to look into this matter and give us a full sense of participation in this political dispensation.

We deserve tangible appointments as all our hope is in PDP, the party we serve for more than two decades even with AREGBESOLA’S political oppression then, yet, we stood still with PDP.

SILENCE IS NO LONGER GOLDEN. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

OUR PRIDE MUST NOT BE PUNCTURED.

In Osun State, just like in others created at the same time was, development and people oriented policies are main challenges. But over time, the people have made changes. The current government in the state is another change made. “The Dancing Senator” was what many Nigerians used to qualify Governor Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke when he was making efforts to become the governor of Osun State. Many people of the state, nay, Nigeria saw him as a politician that had done his utmost best as a politician in the Senate and might not do well as the leader of the pack in the executive; To the pessimists, he was a dancing senator.

But as it happened, Senator Adeleke had a joker up his sleeve; he had plans before contesting to be governor of Osun State. He had his goals, missions and visions. The dwindling educational nature of the State, the abject poverty biting the inhabitants of the state, poor roads, neglect of the grassroots, poor health delivery and environmental saga were the concerns of the Ede- born divinely elected governor. Though, he went through hell to enable him climb the ladder.
To the surprise of many, Adeleke, in very few months in government, has been able to stabilize the security situation in the state. He has been able to restore the confidence of the people of the state in government. His government has not only restored the hope of the agrarian people of Osun State in agricultural entrepreneurship, but also restored their confidence in the trade the state is widely known for. Adeleke has sunk boreholes in about 335 wards of Osun State. This is a major fillip for rural and agrarian dwellers.

The current government in Osun State has put paid to payment of sickling salaries and non-remitance of workers contributory pensions and cooperative savings The deductions of contributory pension scheme are now been regularly remitted. Civil Servants now receive their salaries as and when due; pensioners no longer queue to get whatever is due to them monthly.

It was Adeleke that restored Osun State, The State of The Living Spring, to the sanity of what is considered a state in the Nigerian nation when he collaborated with the state House of Assembly to revert the State to Osun State from the former obnoxious ‘State of Osun.’ We got our groove back.

In a short time, the current government constructed 20 kilometres of roads across the nine Federal Constituencies in the state. He has presented N518 million to 40 communities in the state for infrastructural developments. It did the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach with 2,000 persons as beneficiaries in each of the Nine (9) Federal constituencies in the state, He put smiles on a total of 18,000 beneficiaries who received free surgeries for cataracts, Pterigium, Hernia and some swellings on the body.

It was noted that other medical conditions served by the intervention were hypertension, diabetes, malaria, cough, tuberculosis and other diseases.

Adeleke has also engaged in rural electrification projects across Osun State. He has provided transformers and other electrical materials to ensure that communities without electricity could have light.

These and many more are the trajectory of the governor since he assumed office a few months ago. But, my readers, do you know what? Apart from the support and mandate of the almighty God, Governor Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke has a magic wand; he is a leader that thinkd deep to take note of the minute details. He chose the right Chief of Staff (CoS), who does not only knows the onions of governance in Osun, but understands the mission and vision of the Governor.

Governor Adeleke looked for a person that understands the terrain as much as the concerns of the grassroots, the agricultural, infrastructural and economic needs of the people of Osun State as the engine room of his government. His CoS, Kazeem Akinleye, is the Brain Box of the success of the current administration in Osun State.

Akinleye, former Chairman of Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State, is a thoroughbred grassroots politician, administrator and philanthropist.

People who are close to Akinleye said though he is unassuming, he has a very good grasp of the workings of the civil service, local politics, agrarian life and infrastructural needs of the nooks and crannies of Osun State, having been close to the grassroots in the state all his life; he is home-bred and home-grown, cool, calculative and methodical. A devout Muslim who is guided by Islamic tenets, doctrines, cultural and social justice .
These are said to be the qualities that Governor Ademola Adeleke considered in picking his CoS, a decision that is currently paying off for Osun State. Akinleye has maintained a robust relationship with diverse government departments, acting as the link between the state government and the people of the state. He has proven to be a technocrat of no mean repute by galvanizing the state government’s policies to the best of Osun State.

There is no gainsaying that he is the driving wheel and the key factor in the government that has brought succor to our beloved Osun State.
