With 806 new cases of covid-19 recorded in Nigeria by the Nigeria Centre of Disease Control, NCDC, it became clear that another second wave of the lock down looms.

This came in handy after the decision of the lagos state government to shut down schools, night clubs, concerts,carnivals and street parties with immediate effect it becomes clear that another phase should be expected.

The Lagos State Government through Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the closure of schools and some commercial centres till further notice on Friday.

In a statement released by the governor also ordered that all Places of Worship (Churches, Mosques, etc.) must ensure that no gathering exceeds two hours, and also that no gathering exceeds 50% of the maximum capacity of the Venue.

This comes a day after the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 disclosed that there are indications that Nigeria has entered the second wave of infections.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Edward David Onoja, has stated that the COVID-19 matter has never added up.

He said that leave the statistics, do you personally know any citizen and not public figure who have died of covid-19? And have witnessed any burial of such? Don’t tell me yes on the high profile kind of advertisements that we are seeing. If you haven’t seen such just seal your mouth. Not every human has frozen minds.

The deputy governor argued that the vaccine came faster than expected and the identity of those common person infected have been concealed.

‘We are watching if they could tell us the identity of other persons with
the covid-19? I am shocked they are still concealing the Italian guy’.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu and some states Governors have declared the closure of schools due to the rising numbers of Covid-19 cases which seems to be pointing to another second wave of the pandemic.
