Low Representation Marred Mass Communication Congress by Temilade Odedele.
What is a Congress? An association, especially one consisting of other associations or representatives of interest groups.or more people; a meeting. A formal gathering or assembly; a conference held to discuss or decide on a specific question. It is rather a shadow of itself to say that the mass communication congress was a scanty as a briefing called by an underdog after losing an election. Students across all levels were not present and the majority of those present are those with political intentions or aspiration. Hence the need for the leaders to take a respite and consider the pros and the cons. Students should be exposed to Politics as much as possible in order to help them grow  into active political participants. This means that in school students should be learning about the way the government operates and the types of political processes  that are used.Mass Communication students involvement in the yesterday Congress was low; where we have 54 students present among thousands of students in the department that is nothing to write home about. I believe that political activities should be for all and not a faction or section of the students,I used to know of Congress of hundreds and thousands of people coming together beyond their differences to make decisions.  I just don’t think that people’s opinions should be discussed as it can hurt people’s feelings and may be even offend people on what they think is right of wrong.Involvement in school politics  gives and birth understanding and encourage engagement on issues of public and social domain which in turns help students in shaping their faculty and career for the bigger stage. A Congress attended by fifty four students within thousandof students is so discouraging and decisions makes by the minority do not have a say.
